Do something for yourself that you’ve been putting off. Maybe it’s whitening your teeth, or painting your nails a crazy color (What’s the risk? No one will see!). Guys, maybe today’s the day to try a seaweed facemask or a bath bomb. Pamper yourself in a way that you wouldn’t normally, or maybe you only do once a year. So get your crests ready and those pearly whites selfie-ready. While you’re at it why not read 10 pages from a book or do 15 squats. Talk about hitting two birds with one stone!

Most of us are now confined to our homes with no personal contact other than our immediate family members. So how can we be of service and lift someone's spirit during this time? Research shows us doing something nice for someone makes us feel better while lifting the spirits of the person on the receiving end. Just think of how excited you get when someone opens a present you gave them, or reads a card you wrote. Or the smile you get when you hold the door open for a stranger. Those small acts of kindness can really have a big impact on us. And the recipient? Small acts of kindness can change the course of someone's day completely. So let’s be that change, during a time when everyone could use some lifting of the spirits. Here are ways to make someone’s day...from the comfort of your home:
We all have that book on the shelf that seems to be alternately pleading and eyeing us in judgement, silently reminding us to finally read it. We promised ourselves we will, someday, when we have time. Guess what?! Here’s an easy way for us all to come out of this 21 day lockdown with a bit of achievement under our belts. Let’s commit to reading at least one book! You can read it one sitting or do 10 pages each day. It's up to you. We have 20 days to get to it. Keep it next to your bed so you won’t forget. The most important thing is that you take that first step and get started today.
Who knows? Maybe you’ll even find some good reading material as a result of completing the Day 1 Clean-up Challenge. Send us a pic of what you’ll be reading. We’d love to know! PS - don’t have a book ready at hand? Your local library has hundreds of free eBooks that you can download to your phone, tablet, or kindle. Check out Libby, Hoopla, Gutenberg, OpenLibrary, and tons more! PPS - turning physical pages or swiping on your tablet just not your thing? Many of the sources above offer free audio books too. Catch up on Day 1's challenge while losing yourself in a story. Audible also offers the widest selection of titles and your first listen for free: https://www.audible.com/ep/freetrial Introducing the Kendrick Coronavirus Countdown. DAY 1:
Home Clean Up – we’re all going to be spending a lot more time at home for the next couple weeks, so we might as well make it feel like an organized, clean, and comfortable space. For day one, go where no vacuum has gone before. Find the backs of your closets, the bottoms of your drawers, and even venture under the bathroom sink. De-clutter, organize, find items to donate to the Kendrick Realty Coat Drive, and overall, accomplish something today. Staying busy with tasks that allow us to see our progress and reach a conclusion are good for our mental health. Not to mention keeping out of bed and away from Netflix for a couple hours will do us all some good. BONUS ROUND: post a picture of the weirdest thing you find on your clean-up adventure. A can of soup that expired in the 90’s? An old flip phone? A single, un-matched slipper? |
